How do I reserve my spot for the Montenvers train ?

There are several offers based on your needs. You can purchase a Mer de Glace trip ticket, a 100% Pedestrian stay pass (from 2 to 21 days), or a MONT-BLANC Unlimited pass (unlimited access to the areas and visitor sites of the MONT-BLANC Natural Resort).

If you already have a valid transportation ticket (season, annual, or stay passes), go directly to the departure station of the Montenvers train. We do not take reservations for the train.

Are there any restrictions ?

Visiting is prohibited for children under 1 year old. The transport ticket for a child under 5 years old is free, upon presentation of proof, and is only available at the ticket counters.

There are no contraindications in the operating regulations for pregnant women; however, please consult your doctor or obstetrician if in doubt.

Animals are allowed if kept on a leash.

For individuals with reduced mobility : please note that there are construction works on site; consult our page by clicking here.

Wheelchair access is possible with a companion and depending on weather conditions (specific fee applies; please inquire). However, there is no access to the Ice Cave due to 170 steps.

What is the duration of the visit ? And what is the practical information ?

The average duration of a visit is 2 to 3 hours (including travel time). Please note that the visit duration may be doubled depending on the crowd.

The opening of the Ice Cave also depends on weather conditions, and opening conditions are provided daily.

Your return ticket (round trip or early bird) can be used up to 7 days after the ascent.

Your ticket or pass grants you access to: the train, the cable car, and visits (Ice Cave, Glaciorium, and Temple of Nature)

Can I change the dates of use for my ticket ?

Ticket purchased online is non-modifiable and non-refundable (except for technical or weather-related constraints where we would be closed)

How do I get to the departure station of the Montenvers train ?

The GPS address is 35 Place de la Mer de Glace - 74400 CHAMONIX, visible on Google by clicking here.

The Biollay parking (free) or Planards parking (paid) are the closest to the site. Your pass gives you free access to the Chamonix bus network.
